RefMaker is a handy online tool that helps you measure your head and compare those dimensions with a cosplay helmet model. On this page, you will learn how to use it, watch the tutorial, and understand how it can help you get a better fit before printing.

RefMaker is a free online tool that helps cosplay creators accurately scale helmets and wearable props before 3D printing.
Instead of guessing the size of a model or repeatedly reprinting parts that don’t fit, RefMaker allows you to measure your head and generate precise scaling references that can be used inside your slicer or modelling software.
By uploading your helmet model and matching it against your personal measurements, you can determine the correct scale before printing — saving time, filament, and frustration.
💡 Good to know:
RefMaker works with most 3D modelling and slicing software including Blender, Fusion 360, Cura, and Bambu Studio.

RefMaker is a browser-based tool that helps you size cosplay helmets more accurately before printing. By entering a few simple head measurements, you can create a digital head model, upload a helmet file, and check fit, scale, and internal clearance before committing to a full print. The tool runs locally in your browser, and your files stay on your device.
Measure the straight-line width of your head across the widest point, usually around temple level just above the ears.
Measure from the centre of your forehead to the furthest point at the back of your head in a straight line.
Use large calipers for the most accurate result, or place your head between two flat surfaces and measure the gap.
Input your head width and head length into RefMaker to generate your custom digital head model.
Rotate and zoom the live 3D preview to make sure the shape looks correct before moving on.
Save your measurements locally in your browser or download your custom head model as an STL file.
Once your head model is ready, switch to Helmet Mode to begin checking helmet fit.
Upload your helmet model in STL or 3MF format and position it around your digital head reference.
Use the section view and adjustment tools to inspect clearances, tight spots, and the overall fit inside the helmet.
If your file is in 3MF format, generate the 4 mm size ring to print a quick test before committing to the full helmet.
